CELEBRATING 95 YEARS
Dear Family,
Once again it is time to finalize 2019 Askew Reunion plans. In view of time and effort spent on organizing “Askew Reunion Atlanta”, which will not occur this year, there was not a park option that could be finalized in a timely manner. Thus, we have chosen the Crestas Ballfield for our “Askew Reunion 2019” PICNIC IN THE PARK site. This will be the only celebration being scheduled so, let’s please make every effort to attend. The festivities will begin at 12N and last until dusk on Saturday, June 29, 2019. (Availability from 10AM).
For most of you, the ballfield, as we know it, has gone through some very positive, major renovations: there is a paved access road up to the field, and ample parking for a large number of cars. There are restrooms available immediately upon entrance to the (now) park-like surroundings. Just beyond restrooms, there is a huge “Biba Playground” (enclosed) These Biba Collectobots, as they are called, is part of a fun collection of free games built for parents to play with their kids on the playground! Just as you see it here is how it is set up.
There are two very small pavilions, not necessarily suited for big crowds but, with electrical outlets (16 count) that will enable preparation of any foodstuffs that require heating and, perhaps, respite for our elderly from a particularly hot day, should that occur. Otherwise, plan to keep all foodstuffs on your individual tables . There are both basketball court and baseball field, perfectly suited for game surfaces, when basketball or baseball games are not scheduled.
As with any public park area, the ballfield has certain general safety regulations and due process that must be honored. The play station has its rules, policies and procedures posted on its outside fence. Please review them prior to using that particular area. Primarily, adult supervision is stressed.
We look forward to a wonderful day of celebration. Our usual “memorial moments” will go on and, as noted on the flyer, all types of games, special awards, a 50-50 raffle and selective vendors with unique items for sale. Join us, if you will.
